DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department responded to a crash involving a pedestrian Monday evening.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., police responded to Lakeview Avenue outside of the Dunkin’ Donuts for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, first responders located a male who had been struck by a Lexus SUV and was suffering from life-threatening injuries. An off-duty officer and off-duty firefighter who drove past the crash stopped to assist and were performing CPR on the man when first responders arrived.
The victim was transported to a Lowell area hospital before being flown by medical helicopter to Tufts Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 77-year-old Dracut woman, stopped following the crash and was cooperative with police. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor.
Lakeview Avenue is currently limited to one lane as police investigate.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Dracut Police and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS).
