On Tuesday, Sept. 17, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Officer Andrew Gys was on patrol in the area of Primrose Hill Road when he saw a vehicle coming toward him at a high rate of speed. The vehicle, a Jeep Compass, forced Officer Gys to swerve to avoid a collision.
Officer Gys turned his cruiser around and followed the Jeep, eventually finding it crashed into a utility pole in the area of 390 Primrose Hill Road.
Officer Gys saw the driver of the vehicle, later identified as KERAGHAN, fleeing the vehicle on foot. Officer Gys pursued KERAGHAN into a nearby yard, where he found him hiding behind a shed and took him into custody.
KERAGHAN was in possession of approximately 10 grams of cocaine and 16.6 grams of Suboxone, as well as several tablets of Xanax and Adderall. Officer Gys also determined that KERAGHAN was wanted on an arrest warrant.
KERAGHAN was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash, and was booked at the Dracut Police Station after being released from the hospital.
KERAGHAN was arraigned Wednesday in Lowell District Court, where he was ordered held on $500 cash bail, with conditions that he take no drugs, submit to random drug tests, and not drive without a valid license if he posts bail.
“These types of incidents can turn dangerous very quickly,” said Chief Bartlett. “This was good solid police work that took some dangerous drugs off our streets.”
