Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department is asking the public for assistance with identifying a suspect vehicle captured in surveillance footage after a recent shooting on Lakeview Avenue.
On Sunday, Feb. 20, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Dracut Police were called to 1132 Lakeview Ave., for a report of shots fired. Responding officers located a 22-year-old Dracut man was suffering from a gunshot wound, and provided first aid until that man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
A search of the immediate area did not locate any suspects.
During the course of the investigation, Dracut Police detectives assigned to the case learned that several images captured at the time of the crime showed a black Lexus sedan with damage to its front passenger side driving through the area. Police additionally believe that the Lexus was being operated erratically and at a high rate of speed in the area around the time of the shooting.
Police believe the occupants of the Lexus may have been involved in the shooting.
Police do not believe this incident was random, or that there is danger to members of the general public.
Anyone with information about this incident, and anyone who believes they recognize the vehicle, is asked to call the Dracut Police Department at 978-957-2123.
