DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department is investigating an alleged swatting call Saturday evening.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Dracut Police received a 911 call reporting that a shooting had taken place at a home on Methuen Street.
Officers arrived at the home and checked the residence and there was no sign of any shooting or injured parties.
The incident is being investigated by the Dracut Police Department as an act of swatting, which according to Oxford Language is “the action or practice of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address.”
The incident remains under investigation by the Dracut Police Department. No further information is available at this time.
