Dracut Police Respond to Serious Motor Vehicle Crash
Route 110 in Dracut Remains Closed
DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle crash this morning involving a car and a dump truck.
At approximately 7:11 a.m., Dracut Police were dispatched to the area of Route 110 and Varnum Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Dracut Police, Dracut Fire and Trinity Ambulance responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, police learned that a Toyota Camry had allegedly crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with a fully loaded dump truck, causing the truck to flip onto its side and catch on fire.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage. The male driver of the truck and the female driver of the Camry both sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening and were transported to area hospitals. The male passenger of the Camry sustained serious injuries and was also transported to an area hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition.
Route 110 in Dracut remains closed as the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction (C.A.R.S.) Unit, Crime Scene and Truck Team process the scene. Due to the nature of this crash, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the Massachusetts Environmental Protection Agency also responded.
“This was a serious incident and we ask for patience as we work with our partners from the Massachusetts State Police to investigate how this crash occurred,” Chief Bartlett said. “I would like to thank the State Police, DOT and the EPA for assisting us with the scene.”
This crash remains under investigation by the Dracut Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. Anyone with information regarding this crash are encouraged to contact Dracut Police Sgt. Jon Gosselin at 978-957-2123.
