DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department arrested and charged a man in connection with a domestic incident and stabbing on Saturday night.
SEBASTIAN DEGOUT, AGE 38, OF DRACUT, was arrested and charged with:
- Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon on a Family or Household Member
- Mayhem
On Saturday, March 15, at approximately 5:07 p.m., Dracut Police were called to the area of 18th Street for a report of a domestic incident in which a woman was stabbed.
Officers and first responders arrived in the area to discover that a woman was stabbed more than 10 times by a member of her family, who was identified as DEGOUT.
Officers were told that DEGOUT fled the immediate area. Police began a search in the surrounding neighborhood, soon locating DEGOUT in the area of Humphrey and Methuen streets in Lowell about a half-mile away.
DEGOUT was then taken into custody without further incident. Police recovered a knife that is believed to have been used in the stabbing.
At the scene of the stabbing, the Dracut Fire Department and Pridestar/Trinity EMS provided medical aid to the victim. She was then taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital, and from there was flown by medical helicopter to a regional trauma facility, where she remains in critical condition.
DEGOUT was held without bail, and was arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court. At arraignment, DEGOUT was ordered held without bail pending a Dangerousness Hearing on Thursday, March 20.
The Dracut Police Department is being assisted in this ongoing investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
