Dracut Police Department Investigating Instances of Vandalism Found in Town
DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department is investigating several instances of vandalism where suspects spray painted swastikas and defaced property in several areas of town.
These incidents are believed to have occurred sometime during the early morning hours of Oct. 29 in the areas of Scott Street, Wheeler Road and New Boston Road.
On Scott Street, a swastika was spray painted on a car door, and another one was spray painted on a vehicle. A third swastika was found on a wall on New Boston Road at Aurelie Road. On Wheeler Road, a vehicle’s license plate was painted black and a bumper sticker and the logo of a vehicle at St. Francis Parish were defaced.
“The swastika is a form of hate speech and its presence in our community is offensive,” Chief Bartlett said. “I am saddened that this community is now faced with this type of investigation and we will be vigilant in the pursuit of those responsible.”
The Dracut Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding these incidents to contact the Detective Division at 978-957-2123.
